FEAST - The Community's Market
What did you notice most at Sunday's FEAST? Was it the fact that it didn't rain, or the chalk paint messages on the pavement? Was it the fire engine at Artisans, or the number of buggies parked up at the Food Fair?
Or was it the feeling of coming together that seemed to emanate from every corner of West Norwood, the sense that the first Sunday of every month has come to embody the ever growing notion of 'community' within our local area. The FEAST is a place where people meet up and hang out, but it's also a place to learn about local issues and find out what's going on in your neighbourhood. This was evident in the growing number of community organisations in attendance - Norwood Forum, West Norwood Library and West Norwood Community Muslim Group outside St Luke's and the guys from Norwood Fire Station at Artisans on Chatsworth Way.
September felt like a renewal of everything FEAST initially hoped to bring out from within the community - skills, ideas, conversations, a sense of fun - things we hope will be actively present long into the future.
Next month, FEAST are teaming up with Norwood Foodbank to celebrate the harvest season. Together, we'll be organising a massive food drive in West Norwood with food collection points in several shops and lots of food related activities on the day. If you're interested in being involved or have an idea for a workshop or activity, email email@example.com or pop along to one of our open meetings every Tuesday from 6.30pm at the Railway Tavern in Tulse Hill.
See you on 7th October!
