Celebrate National Volunteer Week!
This week is National Volunteer Week and what better way to celebrate it than with Feast! It’s a lot of fun to put this monthly show on the road and we always need help. If you think you could spare a few hours please volunteer yourself, we’d love to meet you.
Here’s what’s on!
The summer is here and time for the people of West Norwood to kick off their shoes and dance in the streets. Or at least watch someone else doing it (whilst eating something delicious).
Classic cars at Feast too!
The Anglemog Morgan Sports Car Club will be visiting West Norwood on Sunday – you will see twelve of these delightful little sports cars driving about the area and touring the cemetery (details above).
The folk up on the picnic and play area at the Family Wellbeing leisure centre hub will be making shaker bottles, decorated with dancing hand print designs. There will be dance performances at our lovely open mic space for young people from 1-3pm, hosted as always by the wonderful Uncle Errol.
Our resident garden expert Teri will be ‘Sprouting Off’ up there too – ask her how to deadhead roses and snails, she will know.
And PoetrySlabs have readings of the wonderful Sylvia Plath in the Library!
Feast Film Nights
This month’s film offering on Saturday 24 June at the Book & Record bar is the summer cult classic Dazed and Confused. The Feast Film Nights team will follow up the screening with a late set of 70s tunes at the Book & Record Bar – not to be missed!
See you all at Feast!
Feast is volunteer powered and it wouldn’t happen without you!
Volunteer for Feast
Feast has lots of friendly lovely people who volunteer on Feast days and behind the scenes – but we always ALWAYS could do with more of you! We need:
- hub leaders (who help run the different market spaces)
- entertainment coordinators to help with Wingit, our new open mic performance space for young people (see poster below)*
- technical people (to help set up the music equipment and to run the website)
- creative, community minded people to curate the monthly themed Feast’s – we like to involve as many other local organisations as possible!
If you want to volunteer for Feast, drop us a line email@example.com or a tweet @wn_feast.
Feast Film Nights
Just like Feast, this is a volunteer-led group so feel free to get in touch if you have suggestions for future screenings or would like to volunteer! firstname.lastname@example.org
We’d love you to volunteer for at least one of these! If you can’t, don’t worry, just come along and support all the great things happening in your lovely West Norwood….
West Norwood’s Got Talent! We are proud to announce WiNGiT, our open mic performance space for young people at Feast.
When? At each Feast (first Sunday of the month) from 1pm-3pm
Where? By the DJs at the leisure centre at Feast’s Family Wellbeing hub
Who? The open mic is open to anyone under 20 who has a talent
What? whether you can rap or sing, are in a band or play an instrument, if you do magic or stand-up, love ballet or streetdance – whatever your talent, bring it to WiNGiT!
How? If you want to perform, follow us on Instagram @wingit_feast and message us or email email@example.com and send us what you’d like us to share. Or just turn up on the day and write your name on the blackboard – first come, first up! We will have amp and mics for you.
Why? Let the (West Norwood) world know who you are! Bring your family and friends and perform for us all in a friendly space. There will also be music producers who work on local radio stations there to spot your potential…
Supported by The Portico Gallery, The Rock 926.com, Reggae Britannia & Lightening Radio.
