This Sunday 7 October we will ‘Feast on our History’ by celebrating Black History Month with a programme of events, including drumming workshops, poetry and history talks. We will be celebrating the harvest as we always do by asking you to bring Foodbank donations and to join in with the St Luke’s and Chatsworth choirs when they sing. There will also be a Dog Show!
Black History Month
To celebrate Black History Month, Feast and the Norwood Forum have come together to fund two African drumming workshops by One Drum. Come along, grab a drum and join in! Click here for a preview.
Uncle Errol, the incomparable monthly compere from WiNGiT, can be seen performing his own spoken word poetry along with readings by Poetry Slabs.
2018 is the 100 year anniversary of Armistice, and Dr Angelina Osborne who researched and compiled the exhibition They Also Served, will be speaking about the role that African and Caribbean people played in the Great War.
Dog Show
We have our first ever Dog Show at Feast this month! London Animal Hospital will be bringing their Dog Show to the Family Hub – registration from 1pm, show starts at 2pm.
Classes: Waggiest Tail, Best Junior Handler, Best Rescue or Crossbreed, Sit Stay and Return, Judge’s Favourite (fancy dress optional), Best Fetch (trick optional)
This month at Artisans we have Hessian and Foe who make sustainable bags, cushions from reused coffee sacks – even from West Norwood’s own Volcano Coffee! Michelle Poultney will be there with her brooches and Hairy Jayne is back – get your beard oil!
At Fresh n Green this month, get yourself some of Eloise’s lovely chocolates in their beautiful new wrappers! or treat yourself to a pot of something tasty from Fruition Preserves.
To help you all celebrate Black History Month by eating, we have Africa Hub & Deli from Senegal and Saba’s Taste of Ethiopia at the Food Fair… plus Original Fry Up Material back for the first time in a few months.
Brockwell Pups is a new local dog grooming business. They will be at Feast for the first time this month to pamper some of the show pooches
For the humans, we have Thomas Cookie Co with their delicious gourmet cookies from an old family recipe. and Phia Pies authentic Antipodean pies, a taste of home (if you are from the antipodes!)
