Our major focus this year will be on sustainable living. So we’ve spent the Feast break taking a long hard look at our carbon footprint as a market and consulting with our traders with a view to reducing single use plastics. We now have a cunning plan to reduce, reuse and recycle. Feast traders have pledged to give a discount to Feast goers who bring their own reusable containers when buying food and drink. You may also notice some enthusiastic Feast volunteers at the bins advising on how to dispose of waste. This will include a pilot scheme to compost food waste.
Alongside the usual Feast day entertainment, we will be hosting a range of workshops and activities promoting ways to live sustainably. Seek out the Green Stalls at Family Hub to see what’s happening and share your ideas. It’s a work in progress and we’d love your input! Over the year there will the opportunities to learn how to repair, get creative with plastic, cook sustainably, green your space. Kicking off in April we’ll be hosting the Stitch who will be reusing fabric to make tote bags and cushion covers. Bring your own fabric or use donated fabric.
We have a dedicated team of volunteers working to make this happen. If you are interested in joining our green team contact us at hello@westnorwoodfeast.com
Look forward to welcoming you at Feast !
