“She’s taller than I thought she’d be”…
The day that a queen visited West Norwood with her corgi will live long in the memory of everyone who witnessed it. The town was resplendent, bedecked in red, white and blue. The streets were brought to a standstill as Feast celebrated the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee. People watched with something akin to wonder as the Feast Queen paraded regally along West Norwood High Street with her dog.
What a wonderful woman.
What a wonderful day.
And what a lovely bunch of people we live with in West Norwood.
Many hundreds turned out to celebrate and to share their memories of the real Queen’s Coronation, sixty years ago. With them they brought their photos and their memories of 1952 when Queen Elizabeth II ascended to the throne.
We’ve posted some of them here, but send us your photos and we’ll create a gallery of your Coronation Day memories.
Three cheers for the Queen!
