Flags Cut From The Same Cloth

Flags Cut From The Same Cloth by local artists Katrin Albrecht on display at Portico Gallery, Knights Hill. Made from different national flags and originally commissioned for refugees arriving in Gravesend, Kent @westnorwoodfeast.comkatrin_albrechtee

“Deconstructed and abstract flags of EU nations cut together with those of Syria, Afghanistan and Iraq only hint at their former representational function, with new, serendipitous, patterns signifying the commonalities between nations and human beings. Joyful and fluid the 11 new flags move in unpredictable ways, just like human beings, transcending brittle nationalistic constructions.”
